The elephant is very soft and comfortable to handle. It's also good for learning because it has the general features of a real baby elephant instead of having some unrealistic cartoon appearence.

My son was really into elephants so when I bought this I thought he would just love it. He didn't pay that much attention to it and still doesn't because he would like the elephant sitting up on its haunches rather than walking on all four legs. I didn't realize that that would matter but it does to him. My advice would be to consider the position you or your child would like to hold the elephant and look at the elephant and then choose the best one that fits the bill. Still a great product and love how soft and manageable it is to hold for a little kid.

For the price, Aurora plushes are great. I bought this in May of 2011 it is now Oct 2011) and it has absolutely almost no signs of wear, save for a small pick hole. I bought it for my girlfriend and she has used it every night when she goes to sleep (when I"m not there). It is soft, fuzzy and isn't too hard or stiff. The legs are the right amount of stiffness and the trunk as well, but everything about this plush screams soft and cuddley.

This is a really cute elephant. It is very soft but it is firm for a "plush" toy. I returned it since I bought it for a baby as their cuddle toy. It is a little too firm for that purpose.
