Put a girls favorite character, Barbie, together with her favorite pastimes, singing and hair styling, and you've got a toy that's bound to be, well, another favorite! Based on the lead character Barbie plays in the Barbie as The Island Princess DVD, this Princess Rosella styling head gives young girls the opportunity to make her look stunning for the royal ball.
There is a hairbrush, a variety of barrettes, faux makeup, and a large tiara that budding stylists can wear themselves until Rosella needs it for her gala.
But there's no need to talk shop while you get Rosella ready. You can sing along with songs from the movie! An island rose flower that sits on the base in front of Barbie doubles as a microphone so young girls can sing along as Rosella belts out three of the songs featured from The Island Princess DVD. Three of her lovable animal friends from the movie are also there to join in: Tallulah the white monkey, Sagi the red panda, and Azul the peacock. You can even record your performance with this colorful crowd and play it back.
Barbie Island Princess Rosella Karaoke Styling Head requires four AA batteries, which are included. The base measures 13.5" wide and the head stands 11.5" tall.

 Fun for daughter, but annoying for parentOct 04, 2007

I just brought this for my 5 year old daughter. The only major problem is that there is no volume control. Barbie sings and it is annoying, its so loud. On the plus side, there are not a lot of small parts to get lost or broken and my daughter does love it, but I have a feeling that it will only hold her attention for so long. So buy at your own risk.

My daughter got this for her 5th birthday. She played with it once in the last month and a half. The songs are very difficult for a little one to sing along with, since she can't read yet. The cheap cardboard fan behind her head came off right away. The rest seems durable. Personally I think a singing head is just plain creepy.

As other reviews have said, the styling head is very loud, with no volume control. My daughter is 5 and does really enjoy playing with it though. She only wanted two or three things for Christmas and this was one of them. Since Amazon had it cheaper than other places and offered free shipping, we got it.

My three year old loves the styling head. She loves to sing with it in the microphone and brush the hair. So far (2 months) it has been very durable. She likes to take it all over the house.

My daughter got this as a gift for Christmas and I wish she hadn't! The idea itself is pretty cool, a singing barbie styling head with a microphone, sounds great. But what you don't realize until you open it and play with it is, the moving motion of the barbie's jaw makes a loud clicking sound which makes it annoying to listen to the singing. There IS a volume control on this toy, it's located directly on the front (it's leaf shaped). But the clicking sound is still just as loud. And there are random voices during the song, from what I assume is supposed to be the other animals that are attached to the barbie head, but their mouths don't move so it seems a little creepy. My daughter played with it once and tossed it aside.
