 Red Stable Set OKAug 01, 2010
Breyer Stablebates Red Stable Set I wish I had read the reviews before I bought the item. There was no time to get something different. GOOD suggestion to glue the stable together. It IS flimsy. It looks much more sturdy in the picture than it is. We opted like another reviewer to not glue on the roof making it easy for my granddaughter to get horses in and out. The little horses are brittle instead of soft plastic. Horses Breyer Stablemates Gift Set 4 Piece don't stand very well. My granddaughter is happy - but I don't think the toy will stand the test of time. I agree - this is more a display item than a toy to be played with. Recommend Schleich or Safari plastic horses instead.

It's made in China, and sadly that says it all. While it's a lovely looking toy, and I'm sure if all were factory assembled with care it would be great. But,the roof on our's doesn't snap properly so the only way to lift it is by the bottom; hardly something for kids. It's nice and fun looking enough that we may exchange it, but I would suggest buying in a store, so you don't have to deal with the wait on shipping if you receive one that's defective like our's.

I bought this for my 3 year old because she loves to play horses. Bad decision on my part. This thing falls apart constantly and I have never been able to get the parts to stay together, even before my daughter got a hold of it. This was a waste of money and nothing that can withstand any play at all, much less from a 3 year old.

I have been collecting Breyer horses for twelve years now, and the Red Stable was one of my first Stablemate purchases. It is so cute yet authentic at the same time, and the little extras that come with it make it even more realistic. Putting the barn together was easy since everything slides or clicks into place.
I believe this barn would be better displayed or suited for older children than younger ones; it doesn't take much effort to swing the stall doors open, and wrenching on them all day long would certainly lead to breakage. As for the horses, Stablemates are geared toward older collectors due to their size and fragility. If you have younger children, invest in Classics- they're not too big or too small for imaginative play.
If only the roof would stay on better.....Feb 23, 2010
This is a fun toy for my seven year old daughter. However, I know it's designed to be this way, but the roof comes off so easily that it comes off when you don't want it to.
