5Great First GameOct 20, 2007
By A. Dorn
I was looking for a good beginner board game so we could start family game night with our 3 year old and this game is great. It is very simple and does not take too long to play a round: pull the lever and one piece shoots out of the castle (fun) and if it matches your game board you keep it and if not you put it back in the castle top. Great first game, box says 3+ but 2 year olds could easily play this game with supervision. I think it is a bit overpriced, but there is not really a great selection of easy beginner games available. (We have the Lucky Ducks game - fun but noisy! And we have Hi Ho Cherry-O - fun but 40 tiny plastic cherries!)

4Great DURABLE Game for Little OnesDec 26, 2007
By K. Smith
My 4 year old daughter got this for Christmas. There are four gingerbread men cardboard cards (heavyweight cardboard too). Each gingerbread has a different combination of four shape indentations (One might have an oval, octagon, rectangle and star, while another might have a flower, star, triangle, and rectangle). The game comes with a bunch of plastic (thick - heavy duty) shapes. Basically, you put all the shapes in the chimney of the castle. In turn, each player pulls the candy cane lever. When you pull the lever, a shape comes out. If it matches a shape that your gingerbread needs, you put it on your gingerbread. If it doesn't, you put it back in the chimney. Either way, it's the next player's turn. The first player to get all the shapes they need wins. This is very good if your child is learning colors and shapes. My daughter already knows colors, shapes, etc., but she has a hard time losing. This is great for that too. The game goes fast and winning/losing is very cut and dry. We can play several times in a row. Some times she wins, some times she loses.

5Fun, even for little guys!Nov 11, 2007

My son got this for his 3rd birthday and immediately fell in love with it. I have my two boys and two girls that I watch and they can sit down, all 4 of them and play together. They are 16 months to 3 years old and even the 16 month old loves to pull the handle and play with the shapes. This is the first game that I have found that actually keeps their attention and can be played in a peaceful manner. I couldn't believe it. The one thing I do not like is that there is no easy way to store it. It sits on our book case, but it would be nice if it came in a box that could be stored in a closet. The pieces fit in the chimney, and the gingerbread people fit in the back of the house but everything would spill out if you had to put it away. Other than that, and the relatively high price (from what I have been told) I think this is a great game and would be great on every toddler's wish list.

3Nice, but quickly outgrownNov 06, 2007
By Mom of Twins "iggy@mit.edu"
My 3 year old twins got this for their birthday. They really like shooting out the pieces and holding the pieces, they have a nice feel. The game itself is much too easy for them, they know these shapes well. I'm afraid the pieces will be be lost or they will quickly outgrow this game. It definitely fits their attention span though, one game lasts about 5 minutes the speed they play it at.

2Ages 3-5????Jan 07, 2009
By Heather J. Keesler "Teacher Mom"
I want to be honest with other moms out there. This game is cute, and I like how it stores all the pieces inside of itself...so you can get rid of the box. But I purchased this for my daughters 3rd birthday, and it is NOT challenging for her at all. She likes it, but she already know all of her colors and shapes, so I was a little disappointed that it wasn't teaching her more. I would put the age on this toy for younger children.....I wish I had gotten it sooner. However, it is good for teaching children how to play a basic game, like taking turns, and sportsmanship.
