3Very ChallengingNov 27, 2006
By drebbles
As both a jigsaw puzzle fan and a fan of the TV show "Lost", I couldn't resist buying "The Hatch" jigsaw puzzle. It turned out to be one of the most difficult jigsaw puzzles I've ever worked on. For starters, I didn't realize that the picture on the box did not match the puzzle itself, which made it much more difficult. The puzzle is divided into several sections, separated by black and white borders, so there are dozens of black and white pieces that could go anywhere. Some of the sections are pretty easy for fans of the show to figure out, while others were so difficult that I didn't know what part of the show it referenced until I put the very last piece in. The puzzle does reference several different episodes of the show and fans will enjoy reliving those episodes through the puzzle.

As for the secrets "revealed" in the puzzle, there may be some secrets in the puzzle itself, but it seems that you have to buy all four puzzles in the series (the other three are called "The Others"; "The Numbers" and "Before the Crash" - this one has not yet been released) to fully reveal the secrets. So you would have to put together all four puzzles, keep them assembled and then turn them over since there is secret is on the reverse side (it's glow in the dark). With each puzzle being approximately 19" x 26", I'm not sure how many people have that kind of room for all four assembled puzzles.

People who like a challenging jigsaw puzzle and have plenty of time to solve it will enjoy "The Hatch" jigsaw puzzle.

5Really tough!Feb 07, 2007
By Patmed 101 "Mystery Mom"
I treated myself to Puzzles #1 and #2 for Christmas since I'm a huge "Lost" fan and I was feeling deprived while the show was on hiatus. They turned out to be quite a challenge, and I just finished #2 today, February 6! Here's a hint though: I used "mod podge" on the front to glue the puzzles together. Once it's dry, you can stand the puzzles up against the wall while you work the rest in the feverish quest to find all the clues (yes, I just ordered #3).

5Definitely a challenge!Jan 10, 2007

I received this puzzle as a gift over Christmas. I LOVE jigsaw puzzles and the show so I was really excited to get started. This puzzle was so challenging that it had me hooked! I have to say it was one of the most fun puzzles I've ever worked on, but I'm one of those people that likes them to be difficult. If you're looking for an easy way to pass time, this isn't for you. Some of the challenges include: 1)There is no complete picture of the puzzle on the box OR online (believe me, in a few moments of weakness I googled it!). 2)Some of the pieces are extremely deceiving, some sure look like border pieces and they aren't, some spaces you'll have in the puzzle that look like they could fit one of the pieces that has three "prongs" and one "hole" are really 2 separate extremely skinny pieces. 3)There's no "I need a piece with a little bit of this and it should look like that"...I would be sure I knew what I was looking for and when I found the piece I needed, it was nothing like I expected. On top of all this, the "secrets" revealed on the back of the puzzle in glow in the dark ink (I discovered this as I noticed some yellow markings on the reverse side of some of the pieces while sorting them to get the border pieces out), isn't the type of glow in the dark ink that you "charge" with light for several minutes and then it will glow for a period of time. It will glow for about 5 seconds no matter how long you soak it with light. I ended up taking a strong flashlight and basically "rubbing" it (I stood it up on the puzzle, light down) over the back of the puzzle in a quick back and forth motion to be able to read and see what was there. Pretty interesting. Long story short, I'm hooked and I've already ordered the other 2 that are out.

4Not for the impatientJan 10, 2007
By M. Andrews "Long-time Hockey Fan"
I have been working on this puzzle for several nights now. It is unconventional in that the pieces are very varied in shape, and not all pieces with straight edges are border pieces. Throw in that there is no picture of the finished puzzle to go by, and you have a true challenge, definitely NOT for someone anxious to get it finished and search for the mystery clues. Or to move on to #2 and #3.

If you have the room to spread out, and the time to spend, this is a great puzzle.

5Great Lost PuzzleOct 20, 2011
By Lost Fan
We really love Lost. We spent the summer watching all 6 seasons. We decided to try Puzzle one and really loved it. It was great fun seeing the different characters and hatch scenes. The puzzle was difficult but a lot of fun. Not having the whole puzzle pictured on the box made it more of a challenge and a fun twist on the normal puzzle experience. We have now bought puzzle two and started in on it. I recommend Lost puzzles for fans of the show. Bob (65), Jill, Drew (14) and Caitlyn (11).
