 Great puzzles for preschoolers!Nov 01, 2007

Melissa & Doug puzzles are fabulous! The are made of wood so are long lasting and durable. The illustrations are original and attractive, although all the puzzles look similar which is one of the only negative aspects. The fact there is no picture to follow makes these puzzles very challenging, but not so difficult to be impossible! Also, they are good value for the money.
We first gave our three year old daughter a 12 piece puzzle which she did over and over again until it drove us crazy. She became so good, we decided to give her the 24 piece puzzle which she also could do without assistance. Then we bought the 48 piece puzzle for later when she is older, but at her insistance we ended up openning one of these puzzles as well. It was too hard for her to put together by herself, but we enjoyed working together on the puzzle so I give it the "adult friendly seal of approval".

I bought one of these at a street fair and my 2 1/2 year old son took to it immediately and could never put it down. These puzzles are the sturdiest I've come across, all the pieces have wooden backs so they do not bend or tear. They also fit snuggly enough in the frame that you can hold it upside down and the pieces will not fall out. I wound up buying all of the 48 piece ones, and am anxiously awaiting some new ones.

These Melissa and Doug puzzles are gorgeous. My 4 year old daughter LOVES puzzles and she adores this set. She received it today and she finished it rather quickly, where her 5 year old sister had a harder time. This is a nice challenging set for kiddies that are no longer challenged by the 24 piece puzzles but can't move onto harder ones.
It is a nice wooden set and extremely durable! Beautiful!!!

i bought this for my daughter 3 1/2 yr old daughter last year for Christmas. She still plays with it a year later. The pieces are very durable, which is good, but they are so thick that sometimes it may be difficult to get them apart. Regardless, I would buy these types of puzzles again. All of the Melissa & Doug products we've bought have been high quality, fun, and educational. My daughter has loved them all.

This was bought for a 5 yr. old. When she took it apart to put it together, the top layer of thin wood (on which the design is glued?) broke off on several of the pieces. I had to glue them back on and don't know if they'll stay or if others will come off. Very disappointing from the usual quality of Melissa and Doug products I've come to expect.
