 Be Aware Russ Berrie Went Bankrupt and Star Registry Certificate No Longer an OptionAug 24, 2011

I bought my teddy bear at Christmas Mouse, on discount, this August 2011. Now I know why. If you go to wwww.shiningstars.com, you are informed that Russ Berrie, licensor of the Shining Stars line, has filed for bankrupcy on April 26, 2011. You are also informed that the Shining Stars website is no longer maintained. If you are buying the toy just because it's cute, great. If you want the star registry print out, you won't be getting it.
Also, remember that the Star Registry is not really legitimate. Astronomers don't recognize the Star Registry. Hope this helps.

this was a very cute gift, but i wldnt reccomend seinding it throught the mail, because they put it in such a small box the face got sqiushed and totally made it look so bad, i returned it for a new one.

These toys are soft and adorable! On top of that you're giving them a real star! How cool is that? Half of my grandkids are now planning to be astronauts! They use the Nasa site to check on their stars and usually end up widening their search. The teens and preteens really enjoy the game site. In addition to all this a portion of the profits goes to children's charities. I have rarely been happier with a gift I've purchased.

The Shining Stars line is fantastic! We just purchased this Tiger and we were able to name and register a star immediately. This is an official product of the National Star Registry and the price of the plush INCLUDES getting to name your own star and print out an official International Star Registry certificate and star chart with your star shown! On the International Star Registry website it's over $50 to just name a star!!! The site is almost totally complete....there are still a couple of areas that say "coming soon" but, all in all we were able to name and customize the plush, name our star and play games on line as well as other things. This will be the next big thing.....we are going to add at least one more to the family and you should too!
