5really wonderful for a GOOD priceJan 06, 2010
By Chel Micheline "Chel Micheline"
My four-year-old daughter wanted to buy her grandfather a boat for Christmas, but since we couldn't afford a giant 40' sailboat,we got him this instead.

Because the price was so low, I was expecting some tiny little flimsy boat kit with splintery thin wood that would create a boat the size of a matchbox car, but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. The boat is a nice size and the pieces that are used to construct the boat are nice and chunky, but also very lightweight.

The finished boat looks nice on its own, but we paired the kit with some craft paint and a few paint brushes and it made a nice gift for G's grandfather ANd her since she got to help put it together. It actually made a wonderful keepsake.

Fit not very accurate. Instructions leaves a lot to be desired. Don't expect to sail it. Must use glue to hold it together. I would have given it a two-star except for the price.

3Great finished product... But oh god.Feb 14, 2011

When I ordered this toy, I had no idea what to expect. The last time I made a wood model was in elementary school-- I thought it'd be a cute present to assemble for a family member who loves sailing but cannot buy a boat.

This was not like the ones I made in elementary school. After an hour or so, an excessive amount of glue, and much puzzling, frustration, and restarting, I had my boat. The finished product is a great steal for the price; it is very detailed, and is thoughtfully put together. However, do not buy this for a child. Splinters, tiny exasperating instructions, and fragile parts... need I say more? And the end result is not a sturdy wooden model-- no sailing for this boat, it will live its life out on the base they provide. It's not a toy-- its a pretty model.

Some of the parts really should be throughly sanded, but they give you a piece of sandpaper the size of a postage stamp. End product is around the size of a kleenex box (wierd analogy, but there's one sitting by my model now)

1You will want to take a pass on this oneJan 10, 2010

Might as well draw a sailboat
Very flimsy, bought it for my 6 year old boy for Christmas, thew it out with the trash
Very thin wood, I would call it paper actually
Take a pass, get something you could use and your kid will enjoy
