mostly funSep 28, 2009
By kandersen this puzzle was fun, however frustrating at times. the pieces are very similarly shaped and it was easy to think you had the right piece when, in fact, you had the wrong piece. the pieces are not fully interlocking either which made it difficult to move a pre-worked group of pieces to another area without the whole thing falling apart. it was still a mostly enjoyable puzzle to work. just be sure you have the patience to deal with the minor problems.

"God is a refuge for us"
I love the South Pacific, and that's why I purchased this puzzle. I started by piecing together the outer edge. Then I separated the pieces by color. I worked from the bottom to the top. Right now I've got about 20% left (working on parts of the palm trees).
This is my first puzzle in many years. I probably should have started with a 500 piece puzzle, not this 1000 piece puzzle.
What makes it frustrating is that many pieces are very similar. There are very few unique shapes (maybe 10 out of 1000). Plus some of the similar shapes appear to fit perfectly, but if you look very closely, you will notice the pattern is not right for the piece next to it. I had that problem at all levels (sand, water, sky, trees). At one time, I thought that if the edge of a piece extends a little beyond the piece it is interlocking into, then it must not be the right piece; but I found a few pieces that fit that way (most don't).
I also had trouble with the scale of the photo on the box in relation to the puzzle itself. The box is smaller than the puzzle, so I keep thinking that some areas will be displayed on 2 pieces, while they are really only covered by 1 piece.
I plan to finish this puzzle, but I don't think I would do it again. However, I would love to travel to this location. God's creation is amazingly beautiful.
Great Fun and Suitable For Framing!Jun 25, 2009
By D. Heinz This puzzle has been so much fun for the whole family. When it's done, it will be framed and hung in the family room! Anxiously awaiting the finished project, but enjoying every minute to get there!
