These turned out to be a very nice surprise. I saw the starter kit at Toys R Us for $15, so I figured "why not?" My daughter begs for Webkinz--which cost that much for each one--and the starter kit comes with a hub and two characters. My daughter wasn't interested until we plugged it in. Suddenly we found out how addictive these little guys are!
Each character comes with its own game, so the more different characters you buy the more games you can play. (Each character has one style but comes in three different colors, so don't bother buying multiple colors of the same character unless you're a serious collector.) The good news is you can buy single Funkeys for about $5 each at Walmart, KMart and Target. The bad news they only seem to have eight of the fourteen kinds at this time. Of those we found the Vroom (the one with star "buttons" and the star over its eye) the most fun. Its game is like skee ball.
Some of the games are easier, some harder, but all can be challenging to adults as well as children. Getting points and buying things with them to decorate your "crib" is also fun, although it would be better if a Funkey could interact with the things in its crib. Right now they just sit there and do nothing, even the arcade games and the pets. Your Funkey can buy a chair or a bed, but it can't sit or lie down. Pity. Still, almost every time we turn on the Funkey, we're told things have been changing in FunkeyTown. This is a work in progress, and it's off to a great start. Just wish it were possible to get the regular Funkeys we're missing here at Amazon for the recommended price of $8, instead of the ridiculous price gouging I see going on over here.

I love this game and it is fun. It is like Webkins, a little like VMK, and barely like Club Penguin, but it is really, really fun! My favorite Funkeys are Gulb, Bones, Wasabi, and Sprocket.

My kids got the starter kit 4 days ago and have since gone to 4 different stores looking for new characters. At $5-$8 a pop they have purchased 7 new ones in just 3 days. They have been hooked-until today. Immediately after the Login process a screen pops up asking you if you want to create a unique user ID for chats etc. If you select "no" it tells you that you will not be able to participate in many features of the product. My 10 year old decided to go ahead and create this new user ID. It does tell you at the end of the process that this will replace your old login info..no problem right? WRONG!! At login only original user IDs are available for selection, you cannot type in this new ID that was just created, therefore you can no longer gain access to your acct. After searching the website & google to figure out how to fix this, I discovered this is a universal problem with the system & there is no solution. The only thing I can think to do is reinstall the software which will force all 3 of my kids to start from scratch. And we will still have to deal with the pop up at login at the beginning of every game. With my 5 year old playing this game, I am sure we will find tgame (aside from the fact that you have to keep buying new characters to progress in the games), but today I say, my kids wasted a whole lot of their money & I hope they will consider returning these to the stores!!!

The UB Funkey toys are sweat! Im on my dads account... oops... telling you that this is the coolest thing since Webkinz! There are figures you can collect and trade! IM 12 AND I THINK THERE COOL! IN MY MIDDLE SCHOOL ALL I HEAR ABOUT IS HOW COOL THEY ARE!
There is only one problem if you are buying them used or if there are old...
I got mine months ago and when I downloaded the Disc that cam with it there was a file missing and soon after that I heard all discs and a file missing from it... but it was soon fixed! =] :-)
If you UB Funkeys dont work right go to the website www.ubfunkeys.com and you can download what is called a "Patch" ya know like patching in info and files to the disc! once you have that done you follow easy to use steps form the website or by opening the "Patch from your desktop!
If you are looking for a great computer game for you or your kids buy...

Received the wrong item twice...lotus and deuce instead of new dream state funkeys. My son is very disappointed. He absolutely loves funkeys and we can't wait for the chat and dream state funkeys. Unfortunately for amazon we will not be using them for future purchases of the funkeys.
