great toy for the priceSep 24, 2008

"Bato"
I bought this toy for my daugher's 2nd birthday and I have to admit it looks even better than online. The toy is durable and fun and has a good educational value for small kids. I got this toy for 18 dollars and for this price this toy works wonders. As for the connector, it DOES come with the toy. It's was hidden underneath the base and I don't know why so many people have been complaining that the connector is missing. Anyway, the toy works well and keeps my daughter entertained for a good time.

Definitely worth the money...Feb 01, 2008
By Cheryl Lenser My twin 3-year-old daughters received this for Christmas and LOVE it! One daughter in particular plays with it ALL THE TIME, to the point where Dora is driving me batty! I was amazed at how quickly my daughter figured out how to move the joystick and play the various games (she loves Adventure Play the most), since she's had no exposure to video games previously.
About the adapter: no, it's not included in the box, but neither is it necessary to play with the globe. The globe can take batteries (4 AA), and in my experience I've found them to last a reasonable amount of time. I've changed the batteries once, even though my daughter plays with the globe almost daily.
Excellent toy, better than I imagined it would be.

Dora GlobeJan 25, 2008
By Grace Rogers I love all V-tech items and since I have three daughters am more then appreciative they are buying into the Dora themed products. I love this globe, Dora goes around the world in search of things and the children help find the places on the globe. The only reason I did not give the toy all five stars is because I have only listened to it, not actually played it. I am a believer in learning toys and V-tech is one of the better brands.

Decent but below my expectationsJan 18, 2009
By Happy Mom My mother bought this toy for my 4-year-old who has been playing with her V Smile and loving it since age 3. The games are fun but they are awfully easy for a child who has played V Smile or other gaming systems, and she beat them all the first time she played it. She played it twice then lost interest completely. My mother wound up buying my daughter a different globe and donating this one to a woman's shelter where there might be some younger kids who will be able to enjoy it.
Frankly, I think there are better globes out there. I'd spend my money on one of them. I even think the V Tech Fly & Learn Globe might be better, and it's around the same price. I think for this globe, you're paying more for "Dora" than for the education.

Ineresting and EducationalJan 08, 2008

I got this for my 4 yr old as a Christmas gift and she has liked it so far. The joystick is a little temperamental, but once she got the hang of it (she doesn't play any video games), she was fine. It's neat to watch her pick out the countries and find animals and play the games. I just wish there was More for her to do with the software that is installed on it. I'm a little worried that she'll get tired of it soon enough. But in the meantime, I'm enjoying watching her count and learn letter progressions of the alphabet and I'm surprised to find out that she knows more that I thought she did! I'm glad I bought it and I'm sure we'll wear it out eventually!
