8 y.o. nephew loves it. Uncle is a bit disappointed in video.Sep 06, 2006
By J. A. Edwards Pretty expensive but I ended up splurging and getting it for my 8 year old nephew for this coming Christmas. I ended up giving it to him this weekend instead; I wanted to see it go too and couldn't wait 4 months!
My nephew REALLY likes it but, oy!, is the video bad -- what they show in the online commercial is quite a bit clearer and contrasty than what we see in our actual unit. I think the infrared aspect blurs things a bit and its sensitivity is pretty low in any case. You can't read ANY writing thru the video, regardless of size of print, etc. Still, the video link is minimally serviceable (adequate for manuevering with a little bit of practice) and my nephew has a BIG time sitting in his "command center" and sending it out on "remote missions" using only the onboard video link. Seems fairly robust and sturdy so far.

It's cool....but..........Jan 10, 2007
By C. Fleming It's great concept for a toy. There's a few issue's that I found personally. First of all it's supposed to be a "spy" car, when it moves its a little nousy not loud but noisy. If I was sitting in a room I could hear it coming. Second, the car doesn't have much of a range on it. I would say a good 15ft. which ain't much in the R/C world. The car starts to get a little glitchy through walls. Once again going back to the "spy" aspect of it. If i'm spying I would like to be able to stay out of sight. I think they should do a little more work on this toy and it would be a awesome toy.

Wow, really nice, really fun!!!Dec 28, 2007
By Nacho This was the one item my youngest son (6 years old) wanted for Christmas. He kept talking and talking about it. I could not find it anywhere at first. Walmart listed it for seventy but it was not available online from their site. I went to four different stores and while all the toy sections were aware of the product and claimed they had carried it, all were out of stock. I finally found it online through an Amazon.com reseller, but it was just over one hundred and with expediated shipping at over 30 dollars, well you do the math. It's not worth that much. Try to find it for 70 or less if possible, but honestly everywhere I did find it was roughly a hundred. Anyway, the toy itself is great fun. It's basically a remote control car with a spy camera on it that you can use to view anything it's pointed at and you view using spy glasses. The image is black and white and pretty good quality. It's equivalent to any remote video spycam you see shown on tv like from atm's or other spycams. The car is also very quite. I've heard reviewers write it's loud. Ours is not at all. It's not completely silent. If you are sitting in a room reading a book you will hear it come in, but if there is any noise in the room at all, a conversation going on, the tv on, or a radio at normal levels, the car can sneak in unnoticed so beware those of you in the shower, lock the doors. The kids have great fun trying to sneak in on parents activities. I found myself typing on the computer several times only to see this thing watching me and hear my kids in the other room laughing. It's great fun to pick it up or crouch down in front of the lens and make silly faces........you'll hear large laughter from the other rooms. Enjoy. Our spycar was not well shipped, and the spy glasses arrived with the plastic around the viewing lens of the spy glasses cracked in a triangle shape and that plastic piece actually fell off, but we taped it back in place. Only a slight astetic peice of plastic that broke, it did not affect the function of the glasses at all. The glasses plug into the remote and the car and remote use 4 or 6 double A's each for a total of about 10 or 12 batteries. I can't remember exactly how many, but basically alot of batteries. It's been running 4 days non stop now and not showing any signs of slowing down, so maybe the extra batteries are a good thing, so you don't have to switch them out as often. This is a great toy as a gift, but search for the lowest available price out there as it appears to have been increased in price for the holidays since i've seen it listed for about thirty dollars less.

Fun toy 11 yr old loves itDec 27, 2007

We bought this for my 11 yr old for Christmas and he absolutely loves it. He is very much into spying and he has already gotten a lot of use out of this car. He will sit in one room in the house and roam the rest with the car. It's funny, and we have to laugh....he will enter a room and you can tell when he is watching you because the car will get into a position and just sit there and look at you. I'll be in bed at night and hear the car roaming my room just looking around. Definately a very fun toy.

Hard To Believe They Can Sell If For This Price!Feb 05, 2008

I bought this car for my 7 yr. old daughter for Christmas. I was skeptical based on a few of the negative reviews and knowing how toys barely live up to their hype.
Well, this one does. The range on the car is not huge, but it can go from room to room while the driver remains in place. Keep in mind this has a black & white 'monitor' in the glasses. Adjusting the glasses so that small children can see clearly into it is probably the only trouble you'll have. Once my daughter was able to view the 'monitor' successfully, it's amazing how well she could navigate tricky paths through rooms without being able to see the car.
As far as 'stealthness', our car is very quiet. In a quiet room, you'll hear it coming, but normal household noise covers it. Battery life is good too.
If you're hesitating to buy this toy figuring it can't do what it claims to, don't worry, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with it.
