Windtalker is an American Paint Horse model introduced by Breyer in early 2007 as part of the Collector's Choice series. Like a brisk spring breeze, Windtalker gallops into view with spirit to spare. The fifth edition in Breyers Collectors Choice series, Windtalker is definitely a stallion on the move! Windtalkers free-spirited gallop is only part of what makes him so special. This horses coloration and pattern make him quite an eyeful! Windtalker is an American Paint Horse with a grullo frame overo pattern. Grullo (pronounced grew-yo) refers to a smoky or mouse color. Horses of this hue usually have a dorsal stripe, shoulder striping or shadowing and black leg barring on the lower legs. Frame overo refers to a pattern of spotting characterized by dark legs, a bald face, and white spotting on the horses sides, framed by the base color. Put the two together, and youve got one spectacular animal! The Paint Horse is one of Americas most beloved native breeds. The descendant of spotted horses introduced by the Spanish Conquistadors, he ran wild for years on the Western plains. By the early 1800s, the Paint was the chosen mount of many Native Americans, especially the Comanches. More recently, this colorful and versatile equine became popular among cowboys. Although he is most easily recognized by his colorful coat, todays registered American Paint Horse often has Quarter Horse or Thoroughbred blood, with distinctive stock horse conformation.
