Blackhome Grandeur Lyn Grey Percheron Stallion A magnificent 17.3 hand, 1,900 pound Percheron stallion, Blackhome Grandeur Lyn is one of the world's best examples of the modern Percheron breed. The Percheron breed hails from France, its roots in the area of La Perche, in southern Normandy. It is one of the oldest draft breeds, with its history tracing to the early Middle Ages. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the Percheron was in high demand because it could perform reliably – whether for military operations, industry, or to work the thousands of farms dotting the countryside. Since then, the Percheron has been nearly as popular for its tractable disposition and for its appearance and style that has been modernized by careful breeding. Lyn, a prime example of the modern Percheron, lives at Pennwoods Percherons in Pennsylvania. He displays a longer, finer neck than his near ancestors, a flatter musculature, a willing intelligence, and large, well-shaped hooves. He shares the distinctive grey coat, minimal feathering of the lower legs, and an easy disposition coupled with truly awesome horsepower. Lyn's show-type offspring are sought-after for six- and eight-horse show hitches as well as for Percheron breeding programs, without exception being easy to handle and train, many becoming champions. No wonder, because one look shows that they, too, reflect Lyn's natural majesty, presence, and the Percheron's impressive history.
