Cloud Wild Stallion of the Rockies In the Arrowhead Mountains in the Montana wilderness, a newborn nearly-white foal tottered on shaky legs. Discovered just hours after his birth by Emmy Award® winning filmmaker, Ginger Kathrens, the Mustang foal quickly won her heart and became the focus of her camera’s eye. She named him Cloud and over the next five years, captured his life on film. On his birthday, Cloud’s wobbly legs had to carry him miles up the mountainside as his band searched for water. Because of his tender age and light coat, Cloud was a target for predators. His survival that day, and the perilous days that followed, were testament to his courage as he grew into a stallion. While a free-spirited two-year-old, Cloud’s freedom was threatened when his band was captured in a fall round up. His light coat was an ally that time and he was released again. Then Cloud disappeared and Kathrens feared for his life. In the spring, however, she spotted him racing across the meadows atop the mountain with other young bachelor stallions. In the following years, Cloud’s play fighting with other bachelor stallions became serious battles in a sometimes-brutal ascent to become a band stallion with a herd of his own. Fear was not an option as Cloud fought to build and lead his own band. Cloud: Wild Stallion of the Rockies, aired on NATURE™.
