The little Hackney pony stallion had incredible presence in the show ring, delivering mesmerizing performances with unbeatable crowd appeal. Equality's smart movements in the shafts, with his phenomenal front-leg action matched with a near-perfect hind step, were unparalleled. Coupled with his attention-grabbing attitude, he caught the audience's favor the moment he entered the ring, and didn't let it go until the ribbons - usually the first-place blue streamers - were pinned. Audiences lucky enough to see him as he whirled around the ring roared their approval – his gaits the envy of all, making him one of the most popular ponies of the Hackney Pony division. Adding to his unique presence was his unusual chestnut coat, a rarity in the world of typically bay and black Hackney Ponies. His bright shade of red, combined with his star-quality way of moving, have made him a memorable Hackney Pony. For three years running, he blew past the competition to win the Hackney Pony World Grand Championship. He also earned the important career titles from the United Professional Horsemen’s Association: The Hackney Pony of the Year, Hackney Pony of the Decade, and even: Hackney Pony of the Century! Heartland Equality is retired from showing and now stands at stud at Heartland Hackney Farm of New London, Iowa. Article courtesy of Breyer horses Date Retired by Breyer: January 1, 2005 |
